Fitted
diapers are “baby
shaped” and look like a disposable
diaper. The diaper includes an absorbent
middle section and gathered edges. These
diapers fasten securely at the waist with
a Velcro-type or snap fastener. They are
commonly referred to as “Velcro” or “snap
diapers”. Fitted diapers are more expensive
than prefolds but they are easier to use
than prefold diapers, especially with squirmy
babies or parents/caregivers with little
patience.

SHAPED DIAPER
Shaped diapers are
hourglass shaped and are referred to as shaped
or contoured diapers. They either have Velcro-type
fasteners, snaps or no fasteners. They are
essentially the same as a fitted diaper but
without gatherings at the legs. Some people
chose to fold diapers as if they were going
to pin them, yet not use pins. The shaped diaper
is for you. You have the ability for your baby
to wear the diaper in that pinned style (with
the diaper wrapping around baby’s waist
like a pant) but you don’t have to use
pins. The shaped diaper can also be used with
diaper pins.
