Bummis makes using cloth diapers even easier! There’s another choice in biodegradable liners! And they come in two sizes. Liners are probably the greatest invention since cloth diapers, says my husband! He used the biodegradable liners. Keep a roll at home and one in the diaper bag to make cloth diapering a breeze no matter where you are!

Please note:  The flushing of any biodegradable diaper liner may cause blockage in old or damaged drains and in sensitive septic systems. Please discard pee soaked liners in the garbage and to let the soiled liners soak a few minutes in the toilet before flushing just so that they absorb water and break down a bit before they are released into the system.

PLUSHIES DOUBLERS

They can be used for heavy wetters, long outings or overnight. Like liners, doublers have the added benefit of keeping stool away from the diaper when placed between baby and the diaper. Doublers can also be used as diapers for preemies and small newborns.

I love these doublers and my daughter couldn’t have made it through the night without them! They are super soft and super absorbent! A must for nighttime. To use with Prefolds, just wrap the diaper around the doubler and place in cover as usual. With the All-in-One, place the doubler between the airflow panel and inner cotton. Once the AIO is on your baby, the doubler won’t slide around. When using Fitted or Shaped diapers, just place the doubler inside the diaper so it is sandwiched between baby and the diaper.

PLUSHIES WIPES

  Tremendous cost savings over disposable wipes.

Using cloth wipes saves a ton of money. Disposable wipes can range from $2-$4 per week, costing around $600 or more from birth to potty training. They couldn’t be easier to use, just wet the wipe with a spray bottle or at the faucet and clean up the mess. I keep two spray bottles handy, one for my diaper changing area and one for in my diaper bag.

There are a million and one uses for cloth wipes beyond diaper changes. Use them to clean up messy hands and faces, wipe runny noses, as a washcloth in the bath tub, something for baby to hold on to during diaper changes, etc. And they can clean up any mess! They are durable and dependable!

Get creative! Make your own wipes by experimenting with different moisturizing oils and aromatherapy oils. Making your own wipes is a great way to keep baby’s skin soft, healthy, and smelling great. Simply put water in a squirt bottle and add your favorite moisturizing oil (olive, jojoba, etc.) along with an essential oil (lavender is healing to the skin and tea tree oil is anti-fungal/bacterial). Just give the bottle a little shake before using and it’s good to go!

RECYCLED PLASTIC DIAPER PAILS

Here is a diaper pail made for just for cloth diapers! This recycled plastic pail is easy for mom and dad to use but almost impossible for the little ones to open. And, the best part, these pails are truly odor-free. The little carbon filter really keeps odors in the pail. The filter lasts at least six months (possibly longer depending on volume). When you detect an odor, it’s time to change the filter. Once the kids are out of diapers reuse the pail for a compost bin or trash can!

Here’s another way to save lots of money. You need to put those soiled diapers somewhere when you’re at the park. Why use plastic bags? Bring along some small totes: one for the diapers, one for snacks, one for toys. And don’t forget those wet bathing suits after swim lessons! When you get home, just empty the soiled diapers in your diaper pail along with the tote and wash them all together on laundry day.

I use two pail liners and three of the small tote bags in my normal routine. One pail liner is in the laundry while the other is in the diaper pail. This way I can rotate the bags through the wash and always have one on hand for use. You can even use the pail liner to carry all the diapers to and from the laundry!
